Responding to Israel’s Critics

(adapted from an excellent article by Yigal Walt in Ynetnews.com)

1) “Israel’s response in Gaza is disproportionate”

Since when is war a mathematical equation? The basic objective of any warring party is to inflict maximal damage on the enemy while minimizing its own casualties. Was there anything proportional about the US war in Iraq? Or about Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait for that matter? Or about Russia’s recent war against Georgia? Israel is doing exactly what any other country has done in the past. This is how war works.

Would a British citizen complain that “too few” British soldiers are being killed in Iraq? Probably not.

The French, for all their howlings about “disproportionate force”, sent their warplanes to wipe out the entire airforce of the Ivory Coast after one Ivorian bomber attacked a French outpost. Rather disproportionate if you asked me.

And on a more elementary note: Palestinian military inferiority is not an indication of moral superiority. Palestinian insistence on resorting to violence despite this military weakness is an indication of poor judgment perhaps – yet it is by no means an indication of moral virtue. Being militarily weak does not make the Palestinians right.

Hamas is bringing out it’s most potent weapons in order to inflict maximal damage on Israel; moreover, it is delibrately targeting civilian population centers in order to maximize casualties. The IDF, despite it’s superior firepower and ability to obliterate the entire Strip and turn it into a parking lot, has chosen to tediously target symbols and facilities of Hamas’ power.

2) “But Qassams don’t kill”

Actually, Qassams do kill. Not too often, perhaps, but dozens of Israelis were killed and wounded by rocket fire in recent years. Moreover, at this time the Palestinians are firing long-range Grad rockets with even greater explosive power. Such rockets killed 2 Israelis Monday.

Yet beyond the casualty figures, the psychological damage caused as result of living under an ongoing rocket threat is immeasurable. Would anyone in the West agree to have their family live under constant rocket attacks and be regularly woken up by sirens in the middle of the night? Would anyone living under such conditions appreciate being told that “these rockets don’t kill?” Probably not.

3) “It’s all because of Israel’s siege. Israel should allow aid into Gaza.”

Israel has allowed goods into Gaza regularly throughout the “siege”. Palestinians have been able to complement these deliveries with supplies smuggled through hundreds of tunnels (of course, they would likely be able to bring in even more food had they not used the tunnels to smuggle in missiles.).

The day before operation “Cast Lead” got underway, Israel allowed dozens of trucks carrying aid to enter the Strip. On Tuesday, another 100 trucks – double the normal number –are expected to enter Gaza after Defense Minister Barak approved the move.

In short, Israel is allowing aid into the Strip (but guess who has kept Gaza crossings mostly closed thus far? That’s right, Egypt.)

4) “Why didn’t Israel just agree to renew the Gaza truce?”

First, what truce? Terror groups continued to fire rockets throughout the lull, even if somewhat infrequently, and even if the world didn’t seem to care too much. Nonetheless, Israel clearly declared that it is interested in extending the truce. Our top officials made it clear time and again.

Yet Hamas leaders clearly declared that the truce has ended on December 19th, and proceeded to bombard southern Israeli communities with dozens of rockets daily. In short, it is no wonder that even the Egyptians are blaming Hamas this time.

5) “But Hamas was elected democratically – why can’t Israel accept it?”

Although Hamas won the Palestinian elections, it took Gaza by force, in the process hurling rival Fatah members down to their death from high-rises and shooting others in the knees with the declared aim of maiming them. Some democracy.

In any case, Israel in fact “recognizes,” de facto, Hamas’ rule in Gaza, which is precisely why it is justified in attacking the Hamas-ruled Strip, recognizing that it is indeed being governed by a terror entity. Israel did not launch the operation because Hamas is in power there – rather, it did so because Hamas is a terrorist organization that has deliberately targeted civilians with thousands of rockets over the past 8 years.

Hamas is sworn to the destruction of Israel. What manner of psychosis would possess a nation that it would embrace an entity that specifically calls for it’s annihilation? Which people are suicidal enough to recognize and therefore, treat as a contemporary, a terrorist organization (elected or otherwise) that constantly breathes murderous threats against it?

6) “Israel is targeting civilians”

You mean to say that “one of the most powerful armies in the world” has been bombing Gaza for days, deploying massive air power, dropping hundreds of bombs, and ultimately killing a grand total of 50 civilians or so in the “most crowded place on earth?”

There are two options here: A) The Israeli army is not targeting civilians, or B) Israeli pilots suck. We tend to go with option A.

If Israel was intent on destroying civilians in Gaza, the bombing wouldn’t take 4 days, it would take four hours of intense carpet-bombing and fire-bombing to turn Gaza into a wasteland.

Indeed, Israel goes to great lengths to avoid civilian casualties, by deploying precise ammunition and specialized techniques. In fact, nobody in the world does this better than the Jewish State.

If Hamas is genuinely concerned about Palestinian civilians, they wouldn’t hide their missiles and bombs behind the skirts of women and under the cots of innocent children. Israel, it seems, is more careful about Palestinian casualties than Hamas is.

Merry Christmas, Gaza!

Finally, after months and months of indecision and just paying lip service to stopping the rockets terrorizing Southern Israel for so long, Israel has struck Hamas and Gaza. Finally, Olmert and the Kadima weaklings have found the courage to do what Kadima founder, Ariel Sharon, would have done ages ago: HIT GAZA AND HIT IT HARD.

Despite opening the border crossings and allowing aid to enter Gaza, Hamas and Islamic Jihad can only express their gratitude by showering Israel with mortars and rockets. Hamas has proven that the only language they understand is force and violence. If that is the language that they understand, then Israel should speak that language to it.

As usual, I would expect that the rest of the pussy-footing clowns the world over, would express outrage and protest, carefully hiding their virulent anti-Semitism behind the mask of “anti-Zionism” and “human rights”. Already, the rabidly anti-Israeli BBC keeps harping on the fact that Israel struck as children were leaving school but omits (intentionally, I’d guess) the fact that school children in Southern Israel like Sderot live in constant fear of being struck by rockets. I, as usual, would just mock these hypocrites. What are they doing while Southern Israel gets pounded by rockets and mortars EVERY SINGLE DAY? Where are their protests when children and elderly people are traumatized and live in constant fear of rocket attack? How vociferous were their protests when Gilad Shalit was kidnapped? How loud was the indignation they expressed when Hizbullah attacked civilian centers in Northern Israel? These self-styled human rights activists and “peaceniks” are not actually interested in human rights or justice. They jump at every opportunity they can to bash Israel and by extension, the Jewish people. The only reason they support the Palestinian terrorists is because they loathe Israel and since blatant anti-Semitism is so taboo, they couch their racist views by identifying with the Palestinians.

Finally, some land for a new park!

Finally, some land for a new park!

Even Malaysiakini featured some blogger called Anil Netto who found it convenient to quote self-hating peacenik Jews like Gush Shalom. He even quotes Ali Abunimah, co-founder of Electronic Intifada who alleges that “the rocket attacks from Gaza onto Israeli territory have not killed or injured a single Israel”. Now isn’t that just precious? That statement is so incredibly naive, illogical and in fact, silly. You actually expect Israel to wait for casualties to happen? You actually expect Israel sit back and while the citizens of Sderot, Ashdod, Negev and the South have their lives disrupted because of daily, almost incessant rocket fire, and just wait for someone to be killed before acting? And then what? What should Israel do? Would it then be “justified” for Israel to strike Gaza? I bet that even if 10 Israelis were killed by rocket fire, these morbidly anti-Israeli twats would find some other pathetic excuse to bash Israel. How about close calls like the one where 3 Israeli children were saved when they managed to rush for cover before their home was hit by a rocket? What would Malaysia do if Singapore bombarded Johor with rockets every single freaking day?

There are also blind allegations that Israel broke the ceasefire. What kind of ceasefire is that in the first place when there are rockets flying into your territory every single day? Maybe Hamas’ idea of a ceasefire is less than 100 rockets per day. Anti-Israeli groups enjoy ranting about how life has become unbearable in Gaza since the Israeli blockade and then try to justify the attacks against Israel as attacks against an “occupying force”. Hang on a sec. Israel pulled out of Gaza some years ago and therefore no longer occupy it, right? The blockade was put in place because of persistent rocket fire from Gaza, right? If Hamas is so concerned about Palestinian welfare, maybe they should divert more of the aid money towards helping the people instead of arming themselves to the teeth and making more rockets to shoot at Israel. And if the Gazans are truly starving to death, won’t there be more people dying of starvation? We don’t hear about any children dying of malnutrition in Gaza, now do we? I’m sure if a cat died of starvation in Gaza, the anti-Israeli media would be crying and howling about it by now.

The media just cannot understand that they are being taken for a ride. By swallowing images Hamas puts out of “suffering” Gazans and then spinning it to their audiences, they are only helping Hamas play the victim and strengthen its hold on Gaza and perpetrate a continuous conflict with Israel.

I support Israel and its right to defend itself and its people. I support Israel’s right to live in security. I support Israel’s right to strike back when attacked. I support Israel’s right to safeguard its people and cities. No country on Earth would remain silent and be so restrained when rockets are falling on its cities every single day. No country would tolerate such an affront but yet they expect Israel to just drop flowers on Gaza instead of bombs. I support military action against Gaza. I support the Israeli Airforce’s strike on Gaza. All Hamas compounds demolished, more than 150 terrorists dead. Wow. Keep up the good work! Keep hitting Hamas and Islamic Jihad until they can rise no more. Crush their heads in the dust! I hope Israel learns from the Lebanese war and doesn’t just mount a half-assed ground offensive. Nothing short of all-out war would suffice. The only way to ensure peace is to smash Hamas’ appetite for conflict.

I heard that although Gaza has been very naughty this year, Santa would still shower them with presents. I heard Santa Claus has given up his traditional sleigh and is flying an F16 this year to drop nice big gifts down Gazan chimneys. Rudolph is probably in an Apache attack helicopter and the elves are sitting tight in Merkava battle tanks. Merry Christmas, Gaza! May you have a devastatingly explosive New Year!

Another example of harmony and tolerance

GEORGE TOWN: The I-Dance street dancing competition starting today can go on, but without Muslim participants.

State PAS Youth chief Mohamed Hafiz Mohamed Nordin said the movement remained firm in its stand that the competition should be cancelled.

“We do not raise objections blindly. We had surfed I-Dance related websites and found elements like shuffle dancing that can lead to social ills among youngsters,” he said.

Mohamed Hafiz said this after leading more than 500 PAS members and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) representatives in a peaceful protest in front of Masjid Jamek Kampung Rawa in Sungai Pinang here yesterday…

(State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Lydia Ong Kok Fooi) when contacted, said the matter was a non-issue since she had already given her explanation to the state PAS top leaders in a recent meeting.

“We have agreed to the condition that Muslim male and female participants are not allowed to mingle with each other during the competition,” she said.

Yes, Malaysia, land of tolerance and inter-religious harmony. A fine example of a moderate Muslim nation. The epitome of a modern Islamic country.

My ass.

You see how they try to impose their ways on others? Why would it not suffice to advise their own youths to refrain from participating? Because they know that Malay youths would be incredibly enthusiastic about participating and that their parents would not bother stopping them from dancing. After all, it’s just a dance competition. It’s not some mass orgy or the Porn Idol audition. And since these mentally-challenged extremists realize that they would not be able to force Malay participants to quit, they resort to forcing the state government to submit to their will ala Taliban.

Why don’t you Taliban-wannabes do something more relevant like organizing massive protests against the BN or UMNO for peddling racist ideologies like Ketuanan Melayu? Why don’t you organize protests against corruption? Why don’t you scream and shout about injustice? Why don’t you scream and issue fatwas against incompetent cops and corrupt politicians? Why do you waste your energy on something as trivial as a half-baked dance competition and yoga? Why focus on petty issues like this when there’s imminent economic havoc awaiting the country and corrupt politicians plunder the nation? Where were you idiots during the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide?

You people disgust me. You are utterly useless, to say the least. You contribute nothing but hot air and madness to society. You people think you are so pious and religious but you are nothing but a joke at best and rabid dogs at worst. You think you can Islamize the country by imposing your will on others but all you gain is utter disrespect. Actually I should congratulate you for doing what something really well: exposing the unpalatable, extreme, hypocritical, intolerant and petty nature of your religion. Well done, assholes.

And the Penang government, in a great example of Dhimmitude, actually said they will forbid Muslim male and female participants from intermingling. Well done, you castrated, spineless Dhimmis. State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Lydia Ong Kok Fooi, you have as much courage and conviction as a castrated rat. You should just quit, go home and hang a sign outside your home that says “Dhimmi Bitch”.

AP Report: Ga. judge jails Muslim woman over head scarf

•December 18, 2008 • Leave a Comment

ATLANTA – A Muslim woman arrested for refusing to take off her head scarf at a courthouse security checkpoint said Wednesday that she felt her human and civil rights were violated. A judge ordered Lisa Valentine, 40, to serve 10 days in jail for contempt of court, said police in Douglasville, a city of about 20,000 people on Atlanta’s west suburban outskirts.

Valentine violated a court policy that prohibits people from wearing any headgear in court, police said after they arrested her Tuesday.

Kelley Jackson, a spokeswoman for Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker, said state law doesn’t permit or prohibit head scarfs.

“It’s at the discretion of the judge and the sheriffs and is up to the security officers in the court house to enforce their decision,” she said.

Valentine, who recently moved to Georgia from New Haven, Conn., said the incident reminded her of stories she’d heard of the civil rights-era South.

“I just felt stripped of my civil, my human rights,” she said Wednesday from her home. She said she was unexpectedly released after the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations urged federal authorities to investigate the incident as well as others in Georgia.

The group cited a report that the same judge removed a woman and her 14-year-old daughter from the courtroom last week because they were wearing Muslim head scarves.

Jail officials declined to say why she was freed and municipal Court Judge Keith Rollins said that “it would not be appropriate” for him to comment on the case.

Last year, a judge in Valdosta in southern Georgia barred a Muslim woman from entering a courtroom because she would not remove her head scarf. There have been similar cases in other states, including Michigan, where a Muslim woman in Detroit filed a federal lawsuit in February 2007 after a judge dismissed her small-claims court case when she refused to remove a head and face veil.

Valentine’s husband, Omar Hall, said his wife was accompanying her nephew to a traffic citation hearing when officials stopped her at the metal detector and told her she would not be allowed in the courtroom with the head scarf, known as a hijab.

Hall said Valentine, an insurance underwriter, told the bailiff that she had been in courtrooms before with the scarf on and that removing it would be a religious violation. When she turned to leave and uttered an expletive (like any religious Muslim woman would do!), Hall said a bailiff handcuffed her and took her before the judge.

I support Judge Rollins and all the brave judges who dare stand against the howling Muslims who try to impose their ways and values on everyone else. I applaud their courage and bravery. I applaud their firmness in not giving in to these Muslims like the other Dhimmis do. We need more people like them!

What are civil rights? In the name of “civil rights”, can you cover yourself up in a black curtain and go to court without revealing who you are? In the name of “civil rights”, can you demand that you can build a minaret and howl your prayers 5 times a day without others protesting it? In the name of “civil rights”, should we allow you to marry 4 wives or young pre-pubescent children? In the name of “civil rights”, can you silence those who criticize jihadis and suicide bombers? Where does it stop? Once we give an inch to these Muslim extremists, they will declare victory and demand more and more until one day, we will be strangers and “foreigners” in our land.

Why must we adapt to YOUR immigrant culture? You should adapt to OURS since you decided to immigrate here.

To paraphrase Australian ex-PM John Howard:

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture… This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, ‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’

If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country that accepted YOU.

APTOPIX India Shooting

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.” “Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.

Jacko the Wacko converts to Islam

•November 23, 2008 • Leave a Comment

The singer, who was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness, converted to Islam in a ceremony at a friend’s house in Los Angeles.

He is said to have sat on the floor and worn a small hat while an imam officiated.

According to The Sun, the ceremony took place while Jackson, 50, was recording an album at the home of Steve Porcaro, a keyboard player who composed music on his Thriller album.

The former Jackson 5 star was counselled by David Wharnsby, a Canadian songwriter, and Phillip Bubal, a producer, who have both converted.

A source said Jackson had appeared a “bit down” and added: “They began talking to him about their beliefs, and how they thought they had become better people after they converted. Michael soon began warming to the idea.

“An imam was summoned from the mosque and Michael went through the shahada, which is the Muslim declaration of belief.”

Last year his brother, Jermaine Friday, suggested Jackson would convert having taken an interest in Islam since Friday’s conversion in 1989.

“When I came back from Mecca I got him a lot of books and he asked me lots of things about my religion and I told him that it’s peaceful and beautiful,” said Friday.

“He read everything and he was proud of me that I found something that would give me inner strength and peace.

“I think it is most probable that Michael will convert to Islam.

“He could do so much, just like I am trying to do. Michael and I and the word of God, we could do so much.”

(From the Telegraph)

Ah, I hear that Michael (or shall I say, Mikhaeel bin Jackson) was very attracted to the prospect of “sharing his bed” with 72 virgin boys for the rest of eternity (provided of course he blows himself up). By the way, he’s the only person I know who was born a black male, turned into a white female and ended up as a Muslim Arab woman complete with burkha. You know what, I actually approve of him wearing a burkha. At least we wouldn’t have to be horrified by his mangled, aesthetically-challenged face. Then again, we are so fascinated and amused by its freakishness :-p

Is there hope for Malaysia?

•November 10, 2008 • 2 Comments

On March 8, 2008, the majority of Malaysians voted for the Pakatan Rakyat and effectively dealt a humiliating blow to the ruling BN because they were sick of the way the BN played each race against the other. The people were sick of UMNO and it’s racist ideologies. It was a vote against racism and any form of racial supremacy. It was a vote against Ketuanan Melayu. It was a vote against the conversion controversies and body snatching. It was a vote against discrimination. It was a vote against extremist Islam.

For a moment there was a glimmer of hope that Malaysia would break free from it’s past which is blighted by the NEP and similar state-sanctioned discrimination. For a short moment, hope sprang for a new dawn for the nation. For once in their lives, Malaysians dared hope for a future free of racism, a future where all citizens are truly equal and a future with a corrupt-free government. For a very brief moment in time, there was hope. But now, hope is fading fast. Hope is being replaced insidiously by a resignation that there will be no change for this country.

We hoped that PAS finally shed its Talibanoid ideology and embraced diversity as the defining character of Malaysia. We had hoped that the Pakatan Rakyat would never ever raise the specter of racism or Islamism. For that brief moment in history, that seemed the case. Nevertheless, within a few weeks, our illusions of diversity, tolerance and peace were shattered. First, there was the riotous protest against the Bar Council’s conversion forum. Present at the conference were PAS members and even some senior leaders. Standing out like a sore thumb was the self-styled Islamic lawyer and deluded defender of Islam, Zulkifli Noordin of the PKR, who was wailing about how no one should even discuss Islam in Malaysia. For an alliance that purportedly stands on a platform of human rights and freedom, this crazed maniacal reaction towards a civil orderly public forum unequivocally shames the Pakatan. Zulkifli remains as defiant as the recently-executed Imam Samudra and the PKR has failed to take any action whatsoever against him, much to their discredit.

To those who hoped that that would be the end of Pakatan’s racist streak, they were unfortunately disappointed recently when some Malays including PAS protested against the appointed of a Chinese woman (who is more than qualified) to be the acting general manager of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) and MB Khalid had to keep repeating that her appointment was a “short term measure”. Why should it be so? Why can’t she be appointed to the post for as long as she is capable of serving? Would it be better to appoint some dumb Malay GM than an experienced non-Malay?

It doesn’t end there. To MCA’s credit, they actually suggested doing away with the 30% bumiputra equity requirement. And to the surprise of all, vehement protests erupted not from the traditionally racist UMNO but from supposedly “tolerant” PAS!

In newly PAS-controlled Kedah, the PAS government has the audacity and stupidity to suggest that 50% of house ownership be reserved for bumpitra i.e. Malays.

So much for being free from race-based politics. So much for hoping for meritocracy. So much for equality and justice.

And now, to add insult to injury, the “retired” Dear Leader Mahathir is staging a comeback to the political scene in Malaysia with his chosen heir Najib set to ascend the Prime Ministership and his son, Mukhriz in contention for the UMNO Youth Chief post. He was undoubtedly one of the most racist and divisive leaders to stain Malaysia’s political scene. Read more about the putrid old toad’s return to power in Malaysiakini here. With his slimy hand back on the reigns of power, we can only fervently hope and pray that the Almighty would see fit to pluck his filthy soul from his rotting body and dispatch the old crone to the depths of Hell before he does more damage to Malaysia.

Is there any hope left for Malaysia? Can we realistically hope for equality and meritocracy or should we start making plans to migrate to countries that actually promise and practice these two principles? I, for one, am pessimistic about Malaysia’s future.

Liberty, Equality, Brotherhood - is there any hope left for Malaysia?
